We have learned that there is an application before Liberty Township to change the 20 acres at the southwest corner of Liberty and Hyatts Road to PLANNED COMMERCIAL. This acreage is also known as the Bougher farm. Also note that in the application it also states "(or C-2)". C-2 is the NEIGHBORHOOD RETAIL DISTRICT. The application sets out the applicant's plans, which seems to be for a multitude of uses, such as the applicant's business office, interior/exterior operations facilities, equipment storage accessory buildings, and a retail center with a cafe and event center. The application also states: The development will include demonstration patios, a public play area with splash pad, formal gardens, community gardens, outdoor wedding ceremony area, play fields, and decorative ponds. You can get a copy of this application by calling the Liberty Township Zoning Department. (740) 938-2010
The first important meeting for this project and rezoning change is before the Delaware County Regional Planning Commision, which is this coming Thursday, December 22nd starting at 6:30 PM. Public comment is permitted. The meeting will be held at the Board of Elections conference room located at 2079 US Highway 23 N, Delaware. It is in the large office building behind the McDonalds, which also houses the BMV and the Title Department of the Delaware County Clerk of Courts.
We have attached several pages of the Liberty Township zoning code, and we would suggest that you review the multitude of uses that are permitted.
We expect a good number of neighbors will not be very excited about this zoning and use change, and we are sorry to be the bearer of such news during the holiday season. No specific date has been set as to when this matter will come before Liberty Township's zoning commission, but we expect it will be either January 18th or February 15th.
As a side note, we are hearing rumors that the proposed apartment development for sub area A of POD 18D is expected to arrive soon for the Township's review.
