There will be a zoning meeting on Wednesday, January 18th at 7pm at the Liberty Township Community Building/Fire Station--7761 Liberty Rd--across from the YMCA. The 2nd item on the agenda is a public meeting to consider a request to change the zoning of a 20.23 parcel on the southwest corner of Liberty and Hyatts Road (the Bougher Farm) from FR-1 to Planned Commercial. Once that parcel is changed to Planned Commercial, a multitude of commercial businesses could be built there--even a gas station and a convenience store. (see attachment "Liberty Township Article 15") Currently, the developer is proposing a design business office, interior/exterior operations facilities, equipment storage accessory buildings, retail center with a cafe, and an event center. This would include 292 parking spaces.
WE ARE WRITING TO REQUEST THAT YOU LET THE ZONING COMMISSION KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS ZONING CHANGE. We have just learned that January 18th will be the public hearing for this--so it is possible that it could go for a vote at the zoning commission that night. Another scenario is that it could be continued to another date before they vote on it. Once the zoning commission votes on it, it will go before the Trustees for a vote. It is important to make our voices heard at both meetings
We hope you will be able to attend the zoning meeting scheduled on Wednesday, January 18th and speak your thoughts on this zoning change from FR-1 to Planned Commercial along Liberty Rd N.. Remember that there is a 3 minute limit. Our biggest concern with this is the change from FR-1 to Planned Commercial along Liberty Rd N.. This will change the entire character of our community. It is also our belief that this rezoning will be used to justify more zoning changes on Liberty Rd N to commercial and possibly multi-family. We have all seen that domino effect happen in Liberty Township. We would like to see Liberty Rd N remain a residential road. We are guessing that you feel the same.
If you cannot attend the zoning meeting, you can email Mary Beth Robinson and ask her to forward your email to the zoning commission: mrobinson@libertytwp.org
Please pass along this information to other neighbors. Thank you.
